Thanksgiving in Arizona 2009

Thanksgiving. All of us together for the first time in about 4 years. With the addition of Grandma Dopp, Karole Jean, Jake, Tonks and Grandpa. Thanksgiving day was hectic but fun. Thanks to Heather we all had assignments. Not one person doing it all. Thank you so much for your wisdom Heather. Heather cooked the turkey, stuffing and the Grape ice (an Eddington tradition that we have addopted). I only had to make rolls and Orange Rolls. Kelly made the mashed potatoes and gravy and the traditional Holiday punch. Rosa and Allyson made several Pies. Chocolate silk, Dark chocolate, 2 Banana cream, Lemon Meringue (I ate most of it) and Pumpkin Carmel. We were eating pie all weekend long. Lindsey was in charge of making the green bean casserole and the bean dip appetizer. Rylee made deviled Eggs (grandma gave instructions) and Gulliver's corn. The men were in charge of clean-up. Karole Jean and Grandma were given the assignment of visiting with each other. Karole did come in and help clean the kitchen when we made room for her. As usual the food was eaten in about 30 minutes. It was all good. I am thankful that we had this time together. All of us.
The weekend was busy and we were going every minute. We had plans to have these family pictures taken but we had a hard time getting everyone together. finally on the last day we all drove out to the Mesa Temple and took these. It was dark and we were right by the front steps so there were lots of interruptions with passing people going to see the Christmas lights but we got it done and I think they turned out very good.

Sedona, Arizona

Sedona Arizona a beautiful little town. I would love to retire here. I drug Kelly and Allyson all around this town trying to get a good shot. It was not the right time of day for a good picture, too early.

We had Breakfast in a small little cafe. While eating we saw a guy walk by the window. Looked like the Sheriff of the town. I decided that we needed a picture of us with him. The girls weren't too excited about it but when we got done eating we/I went in search of him. Took several u-turns on the main street trying to get to him. Finally he crossed the street and went back by the Cafe. We got him. I made Kelly and Allyson pose with us. He was very happy to be in our pictures. He said he is in photos all day long. He badge said Chief Brothel Inspector.

Check out the Red boots with the spurs and the gun on my shoulder. This was fun. But then I am easy to please.

Montezuma Castle

I visited here when I was about 10. I spent a couple of summers in Cornville, Arizona with my grandparents visiting My Aunt Anna and Uncle Art. I went with them because my parents thought the dry weather there would be good for my asthma. On one of our outings we visited this castle. This Castle is about an hour drive from Matt's home in Peoria so since we were all together I suggested we visit the castle. Some liked it others thought it was too far to go and not that much to see.

The Kendalls

Kirk's family participated in the Indian Placement program. Kendall lived with them for several Years. Eric was named after Kendall and then gave his son the name too.

This is the first time we had seen Kendall since about 1980.

Pow Wow at the Pima Indian Reservation

We drove out on Saturday to the Pima Indian Reservation to visit with Kendall and see his home. There happened to be a Pow wow that day so we experienced it for the first time. Cali really enjoyed this.
